BUNDITS
Your new food obsession.

Bundits opened their first popup restaurant in Edinburgh's trendy Leith neighbourhood in January 2021 and have quickly become a cult sensation. Serving Japanese inspired steamed bao buns with imaginative fillings like Braised shiitake mushroom with carrot pickle, crispy onions and truffle mayo in a vegan and vegetarian version, prawn katsu with shredded lettuce, ponzu mayo and sweet chilli sauce and Korean braised short rib with pickled red cabbage, spring onion and BBQ sauce, and deep fried versions with homemade ice cream.

Working with the team from inception, we knew we wanted an identity that was fun, punchy, recognizable and versatile across various media. I designed a flexible lockup that could be used in different combinations with the hero character of the 'bundit' able to stand on its own if needed, with a striking neon green as its signature colour. Deliverables included stickers, packaging, signage, uniforms, advertising and art direction for photography.
I designed a custom typeface based on hand lettering seen on windows, chalkboards and anywhere a marker can scribble. This features multiple alternatives, numerals, dingbats and fractions, with wonky baselines, chunky kerning and varying widths to convey the imperfect but vibrant qualities of quickly daubed type.
